Planning- choosing an idea

We decided to choose the idea that was a thriller because we thought i would be easy to target it towards our chosen audience, because the target audience is 15 we thought that we would find it easier considering that we are around the same age as our target audience. We also thought that thriller would be the easiest to achieve and the it would be easier to include the conventions of the genre. we also like the idea of the film a lot more than the others and thought that it would be a lot more exciting to film and more interesting for people to watch.

Character outfits and props

Our male antagonist of the story (Terrance) will be dressed in a black hoodie, black jeans and black chunky boots. We chose for him to be wearing this because the connotations of the colour black and danger and death. This hints to the audience what might happen in the opening scene. With him wearing big chunky black boots suggests that he means business and might be experienced.

He will have his hood up and slightly over his face to hide his appearance to the audience. This outfit also conforms to the common conventions of a kidnapper which give the audience an idea of what to expect from his character.

The dog walker will be dressed in light colours because light colours imply to the audience that she is innocent. With having the dog walker and the antagonist in the same scene shows the contrast between their personalities and actions. We decided to include a dog because they are known to be 'a mans best friend' and when in the clip the dog runs away this hints to the audience that something isn't right because the dog hasn't taken on the roles of a stereotypical protective dog. She will be wearing a coat, scarf and hat which shows tat she needs protection from the cold and therefore she is weak and defenceless against the attacker.

Our protagonist will be wearing neutral colours which creates confusion to the audience because they arn't sure what to expect from them whether they are dangerous or the hero. This idea links to the fact that later on in the story she turns out to crazy and delusional. Therefore these colours might suggest to the audience that something isn't right about her character.  When this character is in the outside location her prop will be the camera, this prop implies to the audience that she is a photography and allows their minds to wonder around the idea of the name of the film "Captured", there are also unanswered questions. When she is in the darkroom she uses tongs when developing the picture and the red light, all of these props makes the fact that she is a photographer more believable to the audience so therefore makes the film and the idea of the film more successful and effective. The clothes that she is going to wear in the outside location are going to be lighter because she is going to be presented as being innocent because the audience hasn't got to know her yet. This also highlights that there has been a change in her personality from before the photo to after when she is developing the photo and theres a change in clothing.
